Why don't you try using test tubes or jars as che said?
If not - I recommend rhododendron. I've got a tree here in France and it doesn't need much water, in summer it doesn't rain for months at a time here and the trees are fine. Also, I've seen them on rhododendron in Australia on a friends picture.

Cool website! I really like it.
I can buy EXACT replicas of omni nests and hybrid nests from china for £5 - I've even compared them side by side to each other and asked people to spot the real. Nobody could tell. Shows how much they overrate their products. That's what all people that buy/sell pirate DVD's say. Copying is easy! D...
Has anyone had experience buying from AntsCanada, just wondered how long it took to arrive and how much was the shipping fee? Cheers, Veektoor. Personally I don't rate AntsCanada. They don't have anything we can't rig up in the UK. Sent from my SM-N9005 using Tapatalk I can buy EXACT replicas of om...
My list: Camponotus pseudoirritans Camponotus mitis Camponotus maculatus Camponotus fulvopilosus Camponotus nicobarensis Oecophylla smaragdina (Asian) Oecophylla smaragdina (Australian) Messor structor Atta cephalotes Myrmecia pavida Pheidole pallidula There's probably a few that I've missed. I believe she is a polyrhachis dives queen
Hi dude, You're 13, that's great! In facts - it's better than being older in a way, as you have more time to care for the ants than if you had to do 12 hour work days! Well, apart from the obvious drag of 6 hours a day at school... I was about 8 when I started keeping ants and 14-15 when I got my fi...
I bred all my ants in small pétri dishes and it worked perfectly, I don't think space is an issue at all as long as the conditions are right Wow that's amazing and how did you mimic the conditions what did you do? I am assuming you can't do that with queens that mate on the wing? Sent from my iPhon...

Here's the minimorium I bred, I managed to breed about 50 queens who all have made a mega colony now which free ranges around my ant room...
I made a thread about this before, I've did lots of research and tried it myself lots of times with much success. Up to date I've captive bred Formica Rufa queens, Monomorium Minimum queens, Temnothorax Nylanderi queens, Myrmica sp. queens and Formica (fusca?) queens, I'll try and find the videos I ...
How will that fit inside your tank?!
My colony arrived today, got them in a small aquarium heated with a moat of water inside their test tube still
Pachycondyla queen.
Polyrhacis are really easy to keep, very calm and nice looking too. I recommend you give them a thin layer of coco-fiber with some small twigs/bark on the floor so that they can adjust their nest, unlike orcophylla they generally don't weave very much until colonies are quite large, so while the col...
Place her in a small container with a layer of plaster of Paris or organic soil, keep humidity at 90%+ and temperature 23-25C in an incubator to avoid adjustments. Very hard species to care for for beginners. I'd reccomend giving her to someone advanced unless you want a challenge ;) Very fun once c...
Queen Acromyrmex Species :)
It's impossible to order from taobao without a Chinese payment and address method, I have both of these, and can get nests for whoever wants them That is a great offer, thank you. How much are we looking? Dose it come in 3 sections? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk They come fully assembled, Just...

For messor barbarus there needs to be a maximum of 28 degrees how can I solve this problem?
Where did you get this from Robj? I've seen a colony this size advertised on a FB group and might buy it...
I live in an area with hundreds of Rufubarbis colonies, I keep seeing queens but ignoring them as to me they're quite boring. If you want queens next year, I can send you however many you want as long as you pay for postage :-) That would be ideal thankyou. If I raise some money ill pay for the que...

C'est Lasius neglectus
I use blue tac and find its no problem for just securing test tubes down
My Temnothorax do this all the time and mate too, then I usually put the new queens with a worker or two in a test tube setup and they make a new colony.
Atta Cephalotes, once the conditions are right, they kind of take less care than any other species, just give them leaves daily. Mine are really easy to keep so far
