It will depend on the species you choose and you could just attach extra nests when the colony grows. I think the habisphere would be suited to a Neoponera spp.

Not seen these, are they new? They do look very stylish indeed :)
Forum activity does reduce when coming into hibernation period.
Some sugar water will be appreciated, then a small amount of protein too.

After a long time without YTong nests in the market, I've started producing CNC milled YTong nests. LC Ants will formally open in September. At the moment I am still prototyping and playing around with ideas, but expect big things to come... http://i.imgur.com/EeENoPE.jpg http://i.imgur.com/wZW7RHY....
Make sure there is a water source, ants can go a long time without food, but will die quickly without water.
I have some Queens with brood if you want to try this.
Yes, I have a few sizes in the making but this size will be perfect for a founding Camponotus colony, for example.

Gamergate is the cheapest! My Myrmecia pavida were over 1 grand!
Solenopsis geminata are a fast growing, aggressive species. I have some colonies which will be available for sale at the end of July, after the quarantine period.
Messor cephalotes are like gold dust. Messor arenarius is probably the closest you'll get :D.
They are easy to keep sure, but you can get Pogonomyrmex a lot more readily than Messor cephalotes.
For interesting species why not Myrmecia, Neoponera or Carebara?
This species is extremely rare, Queens of Messor cephalotes won't be found for less than 500€ each. Plus they are not great in shipping from what I've heard so it's a bit of a gamble. The main European stores don't stock M. cephalotes. A small colony was 850€ a couple of years back from a German sel...
I'm starting production of Ytong nests in a few weeks, there is a real lack of them on the market so I've taken this up to start mass producing them myself.
They haven't matured yet into males or females.

Let's get back on topic about the Ant Nectar and Formisazine please...
As interesting as this formulation is, the next thing you know, we will be told to replace our drinking water with this stuff and be charged extra for it! All joking aside, I'd buy this if I was a beginner because it looks appealing and does eliminate the annoyance of changing test tubes, but as I'v...
So lovely to see the colony is doing well, good job Veektoor.
I've created a sub-forum anyway ;).
Joe, do you have any journals at the moment?
Looking good. I'd say white would look best for taking photos of these. You've probably seen my journal and the Ytong nest I used. This species requires no hydration of their nest. Of course provide water in the outworld, but they are good in dry conditions.
Glad the recovery went well. I cannot stress enough how important it is to have a pesticide free plant. Good thing you took action quickly.
They look to be doing very well and the brood in all stages is a very good sign of productivity. Expected no less from the Queen.
I've disabled Guest posting and accounts have to be activated by myself or Luke as a temporary measure while the spam stops.
Yeah I'm on it. Just having a wave of spam recently, I'm trying to keep up with deleting the accounts.

There is no set method, just as long as the sugar water isn't thick, it should be water-like consistency.
Teaspoon of sugar mixed with a cup of warm water to help it dissolve. Simple as that :).
I keep Lasius Niger as well, I received my queen a[…]
