I have 4 colonies for sale.

Many thanks Jon.

Never noticed till to today whilst taking photos of the Queen and her different size workers that the Queens middle leg on her left hand side is missing. If you check the second photo from the top you can make out a stub of a leg. She still posed sexy enough to become the new photo on AntKit.

Yes, like a few other species of Camponotus, they look wicked when their abdomens are well expanded.

I add a tad of plain mains tap water to remineralise my RO water, so I could be reintroducing too much nutrients back in. At AntKit we get the odd delivery that will have a test tube now and again with this Red colouration, doesnt appear to cause the ants in the test tube any problems, however rather than taking a chance we always move to a clean tube. I would agree with offering them another tube, so they can move if ...

Are you providing insect protein a couple of times a week?

The Black is nothing to worry about, its just general ware n tear and ant poo. Provide a second clean test beside the first one so you have given them choice if they would like to move.

Messor aciculatus, Messor structor do fine together.
also, Crematogaster sordidula, Formica fusca and Myrmica rubra will often do fine with more than one Queen.
Agree with keeping M. barbarus separated.

This is lovely long legged, slender ant that can move really fast when it needs to.
