I put her into hibernation, she wasn't going to eat anyway because she was ready for hibernation, or at least thats what people at formiculture thought.

In my opinion, do not go with myrmica species at all! The species is more difficult to care for then most people make it out to be. They can wait until they are put in the formicarium, however if it was me I would feed them one of them big fat spiders, I'm finding spiders are definetly prefered by them. However be sure it's dead if you were to put it in the test tube so you don't put stress on the queen! I'm sure they would enjo...

Huh, i like what I am hearing, do you know what the average life span of a single worker is? Obviously if they only live around 2 months then the colony won't be quite as large.

No problem! I have been keeping ants four about 4 years now! Lasius niger and lasius flavus are very comparable! Ant kit is a good spot to get ants from.... they are reliable. If you are to buy a formicarium, rather than make one. I would look into tar heel ants. theirs are beautiful, very natural, ...
