There numbers are dwindling and there's no real reason for it. I've checked and rechecked humidity and temperature and food availability and they eat absolutely everything I give them and still the queen don't lay many eggs??? She's slowing down for hibernation??

Yes there nest. I move them out of it and open it up, clean and give it back to them.

I finally got round to counting them and there's 38 workers and 7odd large brood :). They started at 7 this year

I've cleaned there size 8 nest 3 times now over the month and they keep making it filthy within days, anyone have a similar experience??

Keep a close eye on them and there numbers and if you see a drop in worker numbers downsize there outworld to something tiny and they will go outside in it

Yes bluetac is my best freind. And it comes in white too I use it on all my setups and it can contain the most troublesome ants too

I think the lack of insects could be a large factor in your problem. Try feeding them on sugar water and fresh insects to start and monitor the temps and make sure they don't fall to low at night etc

Now, I had a similar story, but how do you remove the outworld with the old soil? Quite a lot of the Ants are still living in the soil, even though I've already removed nearly all of it and there's only a thin layer left.
