Its my first post so at the start I wanted to say Hi to everyone - im beginner antkeeper from Poland, so my english could be not as good so sorry in advance.

My question is about my camponotus colony, its fairly new (1q 6w), im keeping them in the test tube with that is connected to outworld and new nest (i hope they will move in). The problem is, there is not much activity, only one ant is active and the only thing she does is blocking the entrance to nest with small rocks, they dont take food i give them either. I tried honeywater, small cockroach and boiled chicken.

Im keeping them at ~27 degress and they were not hibernated yet.

Thanks for any replies.
Camponotus ligniperda has a "1-year plan" and if they're done with it they stop all but the most basic activities (if they were well-fed and heated this may happen as early as June).

Colonies of this species will lay 2 times per year, once in the spring (these larvae develop into workers until/during summer) and once during summer (these larvae will hibernate and develop to workers next spring).
They run on an internal clock and there is nothing you can do about it, heating them is not recommended as it only reduces their activity period.

(When the colony gets larger these egg packages will become much much bigger but the general pattern remains.)
